18-3. TANDEM GEAR PUMP TEST/REPLACEMENT (CONT)

CAUTION

Tandem gear pump must be purged of air before engine is started. Refer to Para 18-2 for purging

instructions. Failure to purge air as directed may result in severe damage to tandem gear pump.

b. Removal.

WARNING

When working under boom, always use

blocks or other supports. Combined

weight of boom and attachment is

approximately 6300 lb (2857.63 kg).

Failure to adequately support boom could

result in severe injury or death to

personnel.

Tag, mark, and remove hydraulic hoses (1

through 4) from tee (5) and elbows (6

through 8).

(2)

Remove tandem gear pump (9) from

transmission (10).

Remove two screws (11), lockwashers (12),

tandem gear pump (9), preformed packing (13),

and couplings (14 and 15) from

transmission (10). Discard lockwashers and

preformed packing.
