1-13. EQUIPMENT CONFIGURATION

The ATLAS is designed for loading and unloading munitions and other palletized items from transport vehicles and

containers.

The ATLAS can also be used for many standard rough terrain forklift tasks. The ATLAS can load and unload single and

double stacked pallets from 20 ft (6.1 m) long ISO shipping containers. Containers can be on the ground or on trailers.

1-14. SAFETY, CARE, AND HANDLING

Correct servicing procedures must be followed to ensure the safety of technicians working on the ATLAS. Refer to the Safety

Summary of this manual (Page a) for a list of safety precautions peculiar to this vehicle.

Section III. TECHNICAL PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION

1-15. GENERAL

This section explains how components of the ATLAS work together. A functional description is given for the fuel system,

engine lubrication system, engine cooling system, transmission lubrication and cooling systems, steering and brake system,

electrical system, and hydraulic system.
