18-25. HYDRAULIC HOSES, TUBES, AND FITTINGS REPLACEMENT/REPAIR (CONT)
NOTE
Use the Flats From Finger Tight (FFFT) method to tighten most hydraulic fittings during maintenance
or repair.
The method includes these steps:
Make sure threads and sealing surfaces are clean and free from signs of damage.
Align tube or hose to mating fitting.
Finger tighten nut snugly against fitting.
Mark one of the flats of the nut and the adjoining hex of the fitting with a permanent ink marker.
Tighten nut with a wrench by the number of flats specified in Table 1.
