TM 10-3930-671-10 Know The Truck How The Lift Truck Operates The instrument panel includes the: 1. Ignition Key Switch. 2. Warning Indicator Lights. 3. Fuel Gauge. 4. Hourmeter 5. Fasten Seat Belt Light. 6. Light switch. The Ignition Key Switch: connects and tests the warning indicator lights. connects the starter motor circuit when engine is to be started. The Ignition Key Switch has three positions: OFF RUN START When the key is in the vertical "OFF" position, all engine and indicator light electrical circuits are disconnected (shut-off), and the key can be removed.  From the  "OFF" position, the key can be turned to the right (clockwise) to the  "START" position,  where  the  engine  ignition  and  the  starter  motor  are  engaged.    From  the  "START"  position,  when  the  key  is released, it will return automatically back to the left (counterclockwise) for a part of its travel, to the "RUN" position where the engine starter is disengaged. The  key  switch  has  a  mechanical  "anti-restart"  feature,  which  prevents  the  engine  starter  from  being  engaged  and damaged if the key  switch  is  accidentally  turned  from  the  "RUN"  position  to  the  "START"  position  when  the  engine  is running.  If the engine stops running, the key switch must be turned to the "OFF" position to restart the engine.
