ELECTRICAL SYSTEM (CONT). d.    Engine Starting and Stopping.  The engine starting system consists of a starter motor (1), solenoid (2), and engine  switch  (3).    Battery  voltage  is  used  to  operate  the  starter  motor  (1).    The  starter  motor  (1)  is  mounted  on  the engine  and  engages  the  flywheel  only  when  electrically  energized.    When  the  engine  switch  (3)  is  turned  to  the  OFF position, the fuel shutoff solenoid (4) is de-energized causing the injection pump to stop fuel supply to the injectors. 1-14
