TM 10-3930-669-10 3-8.  FUEL LEVEL CHECK AND SERVICE. a.  Fuel Level Check and Service. (1) Shut down forklift (Para 2-10.  h.). (2) Check fuel level gauge (1) for fuel level. (3) Add fuel as necessary (Para 3-8.  b.). b. Refueling Procedures. WARNING • Do not fill tank with engine running, while smoking, or when near an open flame.  Never overfill the tank or spill fuel.  If fuel is spilled, clean it up immediately. • Be sure to use correct type and grade of fuel. • Ground fuel funnel or nozzle against filler neck to prevent sparks and be sure to replace fuel tank cap. (1) Shut down forklift (Para 2-10.  h.). (2) Set parking brake (Table 2-1, 2). (3) Open fuel tank cap (1). (4) Ground  funnel  or  nozzle  against  mouth  of filler hole (2) and fill fuel tank (3). (5) Close fuel tank cap (1) securely. 3-16
