4.
Carefully pull assembled piston and
connecting rod (7) out of cylinder block, making
sure piston bore is not scratched or marred in
any way.
5.
Using pliers, remove retaining rings (11) from
piston pin (12).
6.
Remove piston pin (12) from piston (10).Remove
connecting rod (9).
CAUTION
Use care when removing piston ring set
to prevent damage to piston.
7.
Using pliers, carefully remove piston ring set (13)
from piston (10).

CLEANING
1.
Clean pistons, pins, and connecting rods in a
solution of laundry detergent and hot water.
CAUTION
Use care when cleaning piston ring
grooves to prevent damage.
2.
Clean carbon deposits from piston ring grooves
using the square end of a broken ring.
3.
Wash pistons again in laundry detergent. Allow
to air dry.
4.
If
carbon
deposits
remain,
soak
pistons
overnight in cleaning solvent. Refer to
paragraph 1-24.
