Initial Setup Tools Tool Kit, Automotive Mechanics Materials/Parts Lockwashers  (7) Loctite 242 (App. C, Item 39) Lifting Device, 5 Ton Capacity Reference Equipment  Condition TM10-3930-660-10 Vehicle parked on level ground. INSPECTION OF BOOM WEAR PADS All boom wear pads must be at least 3/8 inch  thick. Any boom wear pads under 3/8  inch  thick  must  be  replaced.  Refer to 1. 2. direct support maintenance. INSPECT WEAR PADS (1) AT FRONT OF OUTER BOOM (2) AND INTERMEDIATE BOOM (3) . a. b. c. d. Start engine, TM10-3930-660-10. Move boom sections in or out as required to provide access. Stop engine, TM10-3930-660-10. Measure thickness of wear pads (1). INSPECT WEAR PADS (4) AT REAR OF INTERMEDIATE BOOM (3) AND INNER BOOM (5)  . a. b. c. d. Start engine, TM10-3930-660-10. Fully retract boom sections. Stop engine, TM10-3930-660-10. Remove four screws  (6), four lockwashers  (7), and boom cover (8) from outer boom (2) to provide access. Discard lockwashers (7). 18-82
