0. P. q. r. 3-7. a. b. Oil Bathed Internal Parts. Inspect for cracks, nicks, burrs, overheating and wear. TM10-3930-660-20 evidence of Air Actuated Internal Parts. Inspect for cracks, nicks, burrs? evidence of overheating and wear. Externally Exposed Parts. Inspect for breaks, cracks, rust damage and wear. Srings. Inspect for broken, collapsed and twisted coils. REPAIR  INSTRUCTIONS General. Any repair procedure peculiar to a specific part or component is covered in the section or paragraph relating to that item. After  repair, clean all parts thoroughly to prevent dirt, metal chips or other foreign material from entering any working parts. CAUTION Repaired items must be thoroughly cleaned to remove metal chips and abrasives to prevent them from entering working parts of the 6KVRRTFL. Castings. (1) (2) All cracked castings will be replaced. Only minor repairs to machined surfaces, flanges and gasket mating surfaces are  permitted. Remove minor nicks, burrs and scratches with: (a) Fine mill file. (b) Crocus cloth dipped in cleaning solvent. (c)  Lapping  across  a  surface  plate. (3) (4) Remachining of machined surfaces to repair damage, warpage or uneven surfaces is not permitted. Replace castings. Repair damaged threaded pipe plug or screw threads with a tap. Repair oversize holes with threaded inserts. c. Bearings. Refer to d. Studs . Replace all with a thread die. outlined below: TM9-214 for repair of bearings. bent and stretched studs. Repair minor thread damage Replace studs having stripped or damaged threads as (1) (2) Remove using a stud remover. Back studs out slowly and seizure-that can cause stud to break off. If studs break off too short to use a stud remover, remove or use   “welding  method”. to avoid heat buildup use a stud extractor to 3-7
