grounded,  replace
the
regulator,
and
check field winding.
NOTE
The battery must be fully charged
when making this check.
d. If voltage is below 15.5 volts, connect the
carbon pile as shown.
e. Operate the alternator at moderate speed,
as required, and adjust the carbon pile, as
required,  to  obtain  maximum  current
output.
f. If output is within 10 amperes of rated
output as stamped on alternator frame,
alternator is good.
g. If output is not within 10 amperes of rated
output, keep battery loaded with carbon
pile, and ground alternator field (Fig. 2-4).
h. Operate generator at moderate speed and
adjust carbon pile as required to obtain
maximum output.
i. If output is within 10 ampere of rated
output, replace regulator as indicated in
Figure 2-14. Connections for Bench Check of Alternator

check field winding.
j. if output is not within 10 amperes of rated
c. If the voltage is uncontrolled with speed
output, check the field winding, diode trio,
and increases above 15.5 volts on the 12
rectifier bridge, and stator as previously
volt system, check for a grounded brush
described.
