C A U T I ON If   you   are   unsure   of   the   voltage   to   be measured   on   the   vehicle,   always s t a rt on   the   highest   range. T h i s    w i l l    p r o - tect   the   meter. (b)   Connect   the   red   probe   to   the   posi- tive   (+)   side   of   the   circuit   and   the   black   probe to   the   negative   (-)   side. The   example   shows   24 volts   DC   being   measured   across   the   batteries. (c)   Read   the   meter.   If   the   needle   moves off   scale   to   the   left,   reverse   the   probes   on   the c i r c u i t. 2-12
