STEP LOCATION ITEM ACTION REMARKS DISASSEMBLY NOTE Before starting disassembly of fuel injection pump, cover inlet and outlet ports, wash pump with clean diesel fuel to remove all external  grease  and  dirt,  and  dry  with  filtered,  compressed  air. Work space, tools, and hands must be clean during following task. Use a clean pan to place parts into during disassembly; a pan of clean diesel fuel or calibrating oil must be available in which parts may be flushed. These should be deep pans with rounded corners to lessen chances of dirt pockets. 1 2 3 Front of pump a. Thrust plunger (1) Pull and remove and  spring  (2) b. Nut (3) and Remove lock washer (4) c. Drive shaft (5) Remove d. Two seals (6) Remove  and  discard NOTE Don’t remove roll pin (7) unless damaged. e. Roll pin (7) Remove  only Use 5/64 inch easy out extractor or 3/32 if sheared or inch  carbide  tipped  drill damaged f. Pilot tube seal (8) Remove Use screwdriver and pry out Fuel injector pump Mount In holding fixture P/N 20029 Housing a. Safety wire (9) Cut,  remove and discard b. Three screws (10), Remove lock washers (11) and  washers  (12) c. Governor control Remove cover (22) and solenoid  frame and  arm  assembly  (24) d. Gasket (23) Remove  and discard 4-92
