If clearance exceeds bottom clearance 0.011 inch, replace connecting rod 2 Cylinder  block, Four  piston  sleeves Check Inspect for carbon or metal ridge at top of top ring  travel.  Use  plastic  scraper  to  remove carbon ridge. If a metal ridge has formed replace piston sleeve (para 4-2a) CAUTION Don’t  use  sharp  instruments  to  remove  carbon  ridge. 3 Cylinder  block, a.  Connecting  rod Check Check connecting rods and caps for num- bottom (3) and connect- bers as to location in cylinder block.
