Position
To align cross-hole with cross-hole in the
input shaft. Insert a 0.120 inch diameter
pin punch into cross-holes to maintain
alignment
Insert needle roller into cross-hole in input
shaft while withdrawing pin punch. Re-
move pin punch when needle roller en-
gages cross-hole in torsion bar. Place
cross-hole of input shaft over drive hole
of a 1/2 inch drive socket. Using a ham-
mer and 0.120 inch diameter pin punch,
lightly tap needle roller to approximate-
ly 1/32 inch below outside diameter of
input shaft.

To prevent distortion of steering gear, do not clamp vise jaws
directly on steering gear housing (43).

Install O-ring tube fitting, with tube nut or
clamp
fitting cap attached, into one of the four

the O-ring fitting in vise so that upper
cover end of housing faces upward
