STEP LOCATION ITEM ACTION REMARKS INSTALLATION  AND  ADJUSTMENT 12   Front   or   rear a .    O i l    s e a l    ( 1 5 )    I n s t a l l ;    u se axle hammer   and punch   as shown b.  Hub  and  drum I n s t a ll assembly (11) c.   Outer   wheel Apply   grease,   automotive   and   artillery   (GAA), bearing   (10) then   install d.   Thrust   washer   Install ( 9) e.   Inner   wheel Install;   tighten   to   50   pounds   foot   torque. bearing   nut Turn   hub   several   revolutions   to   right   then (8) to   left.   Tighten   nut   again   and   back-off 1/6   to   1/4   turn f.   Lock   (7) I n s t a ll g.  Outer  wheel Install;   tighten   to   250-400   pounds   foot bearing torque nut   (6) h.   Lock   (7) Bend   tab   over flat   of   nut (  6  ) i.   Gasket   (5) I n s t a l l j.   Axle   shaft I n s t a ll ( 4) k.   Eight   tapered   Install dowels   (3), lock   wash- ers   (2)   and nuts   (1) l.   Tire   and   wheel   Install Para   2-47 NOTE Remove   remaining   axle   shafts   and   bearings   in   the   same   manner   as above. 2-258 Change 3
