CAUTION
In following step, don't manually bottom valve using excessive
force as bending of valve can result requiring fuel injector replace-
ment.
a. Pump fuel
Valve lift

adjustment
fuel injector,
hold pressure
adjusting
screw and
slowly turn
lift adjusting
screw clock-
wise until
valve ceases
to open
Opening pressure for new fuel injectors is
b. Raise pressure
200 to 500
3150 to 3250 PSI; for used fuel injectors
PSI over
2950 to 3050 PSI. Some fuel may collect
fuel injector
on injector tip; however a rapid dribble
opening
must not be apparent
pressure
Turning screw (9) 1/2 turn sets valve lift
c. To set lift,
turn lift
0.009 inch off valve seat
adjusting
screw (9)
counter-
clockwise
1/2 turn
Use tool P/N AN9508-6; tighten to 40-45
d. Hold lift
pounds-inch torque
adjusting
screw and
tighten lift
adjusting
screw locknut
e. Recheck open-
ing pressure
adjustment
and readjust
if necessary
f. Test fuel
injector
g. Remove fuel
injector from
test stand
