FUEL INJECTOR
NOZZLE
HOLE
VISUAL INSPECTION
(1) Manually rotate crankshaft.
(2) Inspect nozzle holes to see if fluid is
FUEL
discharged.
INJECTION
(a) If fluid is discharged, go to (3)
below.
PUMP
(b) If fluid is not discharged, remove
CRANKSHAFT
and inspect connecting rods
(Para 3-17) and rocker arm
assemblies (Para 3-18) for damage
and/or wear. Replace rods and
assemblies as necessary.
(3) Examine the discharged fluid to
determine whether it is coolant or fuel.
(a) If fluid is coolant, replace the
cylinder head assembly (Para 3-7).
(b) If fluid is fuel, test the fuel injection
nozzles and replace faulty nozzles
(Para 4-3) as necessary.
(4) Install engine (Para 3-3).
