TM 10-3930-671-24 Upright Removal WARNING Use   only   approved   hooks,   chains, and  connecting  links  when  lifting  and handling the upright.  Be sure the hoist, hooks,   and   chain   have   the   correct capacity to safely handle the load. Attach   a   chain   or   sling   of   correct capacity  to  the  up  right  and  a  hoist before   removing   any   tilt   cylinder   at tachment   parts.      Be   sure   upright   is securely   supported   by   the   hoist   and slack    removed    before    removing    up right  mounting  trunnion  caps.    Failure to do so could result in personal injury or death. NOTE To perform this service procedure, it is recommended that you first: Park truck on a level surface. Put  the  upright  in  a  vertical  position and lower the carriage fully down. Return all controls to neutral. Turn key switch OFF. Apply  parking  brake  and  block  steer wheels. NOTE Typical   upright   weights   may   range from 1500 lbs (680 kg) to in excess of 2000 lbs (910 kg). Keep  RH  and  LH  caps   matched   to respective   brackets.   Caps   are   not interchangeable.    Caps  must  always be reinstalled in same original top-to- bottom position. Refer   to   upright   mounting   parts   illustration   and   to   tilt cylinder mounting illustration. 1. Remove all hydraulic attachments and equipment, forks, etc. 2. Put blocks on both sides of the steer wheels. 3. Raise   the   front   of   the   truck   and   put   blocking under each side of the frame. 4. Remove    drive    wheels.        For    best    access    to upright mounting trunnion fasteners. 5. Attach lifting chains and hoist to upright. Be  sure  to  secure  and  support  the  upright  from  falling before removing  the  tilt  cylinders.    The  upright  must  be supported by use of an overhead chain hoist of adequate capacity. 6. Disconnect the hydraulic lift line(s). Refer to lift & tilt lines illustration, Page 10.0-8. a. Put    a    pan    under    drive    axle    to    catch hydraulic  fluid.    Disconnect  the  hydraulic lift line to the lift cylinder.  Cap or plug the ends   of   the   line   and   fittings   to   prevent drainage and contamination of the lines.
