TM10-3930-671-10 Planned Maintenance and Lubrication Transaxle Fluid & Filter Change The  transaxle  oil  is  drained  from  the  drive  axle  drain plug. Place flat drain pan of 32 pints (15 L) minimum capacity under drain opening. Remove drain plug. Transaxle (Transmission) Oil Filter Change The  transaxle  oil  filter  is  located  in  a  horizontal  position on   the   top   left   front   (towards   drive   axle)   side   of   the transmission, and mounted on the charging pump. 1. Remove the floorboards. You will see the transmission oil filter near the bottom of the steering column. 2. Remove   the   oil   filter.      Take   special   care   when removing this filter to avoid draining any oil remaining in  the  filter  onto  the  floor.    It  is    recommended  that you   first   loosen   the   filter   using   a   standard   filter wrench.  Then, remove the filter while holding a pad of  shop  cloths,  or  other  absorbent  material,    under the  open  end  of  the  filter  to  absorb  any  excess  oil that may drain out of the filter. 3. Install a new filter.  Be sure to follow the installation instructions   printed   on   the   outside   surface   of   the filter. 4. Inspect  and  clean  the  transaxle  breather  (air  vent) located on the top of the converter housing near the charging pump. 5. Install the floorboards. E-103
