TM 10-3930-671-10 Know The Truck How The Lift Truck Operates With the accelerator pedal, you control the engine to select the required truck  travel  speed  and  power,  and  the  correct  speed  for  lifting  a  load. The accelerator is mechanically connected to the fuel control. The steering wheel is connected with a hydrostatic steering gear. Power steering is provided by oil pressure from the main hydraulic pump which flows to the steering gear used in the amount required for movement of the steering cylinder on the steer axle. Never operate a lift truck which has a steering system fault. E-54
