TM 10-3930-669-10 g. Load Placement Operating Procedure Using Mast Pivot. (1) Approach the rack opening at a slow (creep) speed keeping forklift parallel to rack. (2) While approaching the rack opening, raise the load to the proper height. (3) While  approaching  the  rack  opening,  shift  the  mast  assembly  slightly  to  the  left  of  center  and  begin pivoting load clockwise towards rack. NOTE • The  load  face  nearest  the  operator  should  be  very  close  to  the  vertical  rack  member  and  in view of the operator. • You  will  notice  mast  assembly  clockwise  pivot  and  left-hand  shift  action  at  the  same  time. These functions will not be synchronized and one function may stop before the other. (4) As the right corner of the load clears the rack vertical member, shift the mast assembly farther to the left and pivot load clockwise toward the rack as much as possible. 2-33
