REMOVAL
NOTE
If new tappets were installed, the camshaft and camshaft bushing(s) must be replaced.

Turn crankshaft to align timing marks on camshaft
gear (4) with timing marks on crankshaft gear (9).

NOTE
When measuring camshaft gear backlash,
hold the camshaft gear and the crankshaft
gear to avoid getting a false backlash read-
ing.

Measure camshaft gear (4) backlash using a dial indi-
cator as shown.

Record measured backlash for reference.
