The  information  and  illustrations  in  this  chapter  provide  the  basic  instructions  you  will  need  to  properly  operate  the M544E Forklift Truck.  Before operating the vehicle,  ensure that you know the location and operation of all controls and indicators.  A thorough review of this section, and getting into the vehicle and identifying each control and indicator is the best way to do this. 2-2.  CONTROLS AND INDICATORS. The following illustrations and charts show the location and describe the function of the controls and indicators on this vehicle.  Very often the lights and gages will indicate that something Is wrong long before you realize it.  Be familiar with them before you operate the vehicle. 2-1
