9. BATTERY FAILS TO MAINTAIN CHARGE

Lower tow bar, open grille and remove battery cover as described in MALFUNCTION 1, step 3.

Step 1.

Check level of battery electrolyte.

Fill with clean distilled water (enough to cover plates).

Lower tow bar, open grille and remove battery cover as described in MALFUNCTION 1, step 3.

Step 2.

Inspect battery cables for worn or broken insulation, frayed or nicked wires.

Tape worn or broken insulation; refer frayed or nicked wires to organizational maintenance.

Check for loose battery cables or broken battery terminals.

Step 3.

Tighten loose battery cables, refer broken battery terminals to organizational maintenance.

Inspect battery top and terminals for corrosion build-up.

Step 4.

Remove corrosion with clean water and a brush; clean terminals with a wire brush.
