TB 43-0142
(5)  Lifting fixtures shall be marked to indicate use of fixture, the load rating, source of load
rating, and next periodic inspection date. This marking may be accomplished by means of color
coding, pressure sensitive tapes, metal tags, or a combination of these methods. Hooks shall not be
painted as doing so would cover small cracks.
NOTE
Under no circumstances shall these markings be painted over or
removed, except for maintenance or inspection, or change of the
forklift's load rating, at which time the item will be re-stenciled.
g. Ensure that daily and periodic inspections are performed in accordance with this publication or
the applicable technical manuals for special type or special use lifting devices, when appropriate.
Preventive maintenance should be scheduled and performed in accordance with applicable technical
publications, and/or manufacturer's manuals, as available.
